Larry Schafer

January 24, 1952 – June 24, 2012

Larry Schafer was born on January 24, 1952, in St. Louis, Missouri. Those who knew him remember a man with a quick wit, an easy smile, and a personality that could brighten almost any room. Larry met and married Barbara Maholick. Operating their banner and vinyl graphics company, they traveled throughout the United States, attending horse shows from Montana to Maine. Along the way they earned a reputation for quality workmanship, service, and lasting friendships. Larry was also a gifted storyteller with an extraordinary imagination. He spent years writing novels that reflected his humor, creativity,

and unique perspective.

Sadly, Larry passed away on June 24, 2012 from Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) at the age of sixty. Before he died, Barbara promised him that she would see his novels published. In 2020, Barbara began reopening On The Spot Signs, restoring Larry's original artwork, and expanding it with hundreds of new designs.
